2gether Bar
Tucked along Jetyod Road close to the Chiang Rai Clock Tower, 2gether Bar is a laid-back local haunt that has built a loyal following among both residents and travellers passing through the city. The owner, Nhoo, and the staff are known for making guests feel genuinely welcome from the moment they walk in, giving the place a friendly, neighbourhood feel that keeps people coming back. The bar offers a free pool table, a big screen TV for watching sports, and the appealing option to choose your own music — a detail regulars particularly appreciate. First-time visitors receive a complimentary snack with their first drink. The atmosphere is relaxed rather than rowdy, making it a comfortable spot to wind down after a day of sightseeing without committing to a loud or crowded venue. It is worth noting that some visitors have observed the bar attracts a crowd where men seeking female company is part of the social dynamic, so it may not suit every traveller depending on what they are looking for. 2gether Bar opens at 17:00 every day of the week and runs until midnight, making early evening a good time to arrive for a quieter experience. Given its proximity to the Clock Tower area, it is easy to incorporate into a night out exploring central Chiang Rai.

Found this cozy little bar near the Chiang Rai Clock Tower—what a gem! The atmosphere is super chill, and you can choose your own music which is such a cool touch. They’ve got a big screen TV for football matches, free snooker table, and the drinks are reasonably priced. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel like a regular right away. The bathroom is also surprisingly clean (which is a big plus!). Definitely one of my favorite spots to relax when I’m in town.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
