Visitor Reviews
Visiting the Golden Triangle was a really interesting experience. It’s fascinating to stand at the point where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. The viewpoint offers beautiful scenery over the Mekong River, and it’s definitely worth stopping to take it all in. It’s also very interesting to learn about the history of the area, especially its past connection to the opium trade. Hearing the stories behind the name “Golden Triangle” gives the place a completely different perspective. The boat tour on the Mekong River was a fun addition to the visit — a great way to see the borders from the water and experience the area from another angle. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in northern Thailand.
A now famous tourist point with a huge history in it. Also a vantage point where the mekong river faces thai, burma and laos! Fantastic scenery for a great photo. Crowded for almost the entire year but manageable. Shops are avaliable but everyone selling the same stuff (good thing that the pricing is not within a cut-throat range as it is in the past) Parking along the road and boat tours are avaliable.
Place with historic significance in global Opium trade. Has a temple, some view points from where you can see Myanmar and Laos. It's cool to see the casinos of Laos from Thailand.. If you have your physical passport you can apparently take a ferry to Don Sao island which is technically Laos (without a visa) after submitting your passport to immigration in Thailand. We didn't have our passport so we didn't choose this. You could also go on a leisure boat trip to catch in the views of the 2 countries...

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
