Starlight Rooftop Bar
Perched atop a building on Surawong Road in Bangkok's Bang Rak district, this rooftop bar draws evening crowds with its relaxed ambiance, creative cocktail menu, and staff consistently praised by visitors for their warmth and professionalism. The setting strikes a balance between cozy and lively, making it equally suited to a night out with friends or a quieter drink for two — reviewers frequently highlight the romantic atmosphere. The cocktail list leans creative, with drinks that are as visually appealing as they are drinkable. Food is available, though visitors note that both the menu and the views are modest rather than spectacular — the rooftop height does not deliver sweeping Bangkok skyline panoramas. On rainy or windy evenings, guests may be moved to the indoor area, which several visitors actually prefer for its atmosphere. Prices sit on the higher side relative to what's on offer, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly. Good to know: Starlight opens at 5pm every day of the week and stays open until 1am, so there is no need to plan around days off. Bangkok's rainy season runs from May to October, and as a partially outdoor venue, weather can affect the rooftop experience. Booking ahead via the venue's website is a sensible move on weekend evenings, and the central Surawong Road location puts it within easy reach of restaurants, shopping, and public transport.

Visitor Reviews
I had an amazing time at Starlight Bar! ✨ The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, perfect for a night out with friends or even a relaxed solo drink. The cocktails were not only creative but also beautifully presented — you can tell a lot of thought goes into the menu. What truly made the evening special was the incredible staff. Gongson was attentive and warm, making us feel instantly welcome. Pan had fantastic recommendations and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. And Ben brought such great energy — friendly, efficient, and always with a smile. It’s rare to find a place where both the vibe and the service are this consistently outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending Starlight Bar to everyone.
The location is also ideal, with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and transportation. What really made my experience unforgettable was the outstanding staff. Their kindness, professionalism, and warmth made all the difference. A special thank you to Ben, Newyear, Pam, and Com — you were absolutely amazing! Thank you for your constant support, your smiles, and your dedication to making my stay perfect. Your service went above and beyond, and I truly appreciate everything you did. I highly recommend Mercure Bangkok to anyone visiting the city. I will definitely return!
This rooftop bar is a must visit. The friendly staff provide good service, I was attended by Gongson, New and Tan - A big shout out to all of them; whether they are crafting creative cocktails or serving them with a smile. This bar has the cool air-conditioned lounge and as well the breezy open-space. The views are breathtaking, offering good urban skyline that transforms beautifully during sunset and nighttime. Very recommended and nice music.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
