Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours (River City)

4.9(3,999 reviews)

Operating from the historic Talat Noi neighbourhood near River City, Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours specialises in small-group guided experiences that take visitors off the main tourist trail and into the quieter backstreets, waterways, and traditional communities that define everyday Bangkok. The company offers a combination of bicycle tours through the old town and longboat rides along the city's khlongs, giving travellers a street-level perspective on a city that can otherwise feel difficult to navigate independently. Tour groups are kept small, and guides are consistently praised by visitors for their local knowledge, English-language skills, and attentiveness to the group. Solo travellers are often paired thoughtfully with others, making it a practical choice for those exploring Bangkok alone. Itineraries typically include temple stops, rest breaks, and time in areas that most visitors would not easily discover on their own. Tours run daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with early morning departures offering cooler temperatures and a more active local atmosphere along the canals. Booking in advance through the company's website is strongly recommended, particularly during peak travel periods. Lightweight, breathable clothing and sun protection are advisable, as much of the experience takes place outdoors. The riverside location in Samphanthawong district is accessible by river ferry as well as road, adding a convenient entry point for travellers already exploring the waterfront areas of Bangkok.

We had a great time on the 3 hour bike tour through the old town. Our guides Chai and Wit made sure everyone was safe and Chai spoke English very well. We did some nice sightseeing and had a rest stop where drinks and local snacks were accommodated. One of the bycicles got a flat tire, but hero Wit switched his bike and made sure the show could go on! Overall we definitely recommend booking this bike tour with co van Kessel. #covankessel #wit #chai #wehadagoodtime #bangkok #thankyou

We had a fantastic time on our bike tour in Bangkok. Emma and Pheta were awesome, brilliant guides and looked after us. It was great to see things we just would not have explored on our own. The temple and flower market were amazing and the refreshment break was lovely, so nice to sample those different foods. Made our visit to Bangkok all the better for doing this tour. Thank you 🤩

I can't recommend this tour enough! It really was the highlight of our Bangkok trip. The company is extremely professional, the bikes very comfortable and the itinerary spot on to give you a sense of old Bangkok and the local community. Earth and Cat were fabulous guides who couldn't do enough for us. One of the best trips I have ever done and would do again and again!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
