The Rock Pub
A well-established rock bar and live music venue on Phahon Yothin Road, The Rock Pub sits in the Phaya Thai district and pulls in a loyal crowd of locals and visiting music fans. The main draw is the live band lineup, which typically kicks off around 10pm and covers rock hits and tribute sets. On tribute nights in particular, the atmosphere reportedly reaches a high energy, with the audience and bands feeding off each other in a venue that is packed and loud by design. Visitors can expect a dark, casual setting with a rock music focus rather than a polished cocktail bar experience. The volume is notably high, which suits those there for the music but may be a consideration for those seeking easy conversation. Food is available and is generally considered decent value for the price, though service during busy periods has been inconsistent, with some guests reporting slow kitchen times. Drink options are straightforward, though not all cocktails may be available on a given night. Good to know: The Rock Pub opens daily from 6pm, with live bands starting from around 10pm, so arriving earlier allows time to settle in before the main entertainment begins. Dress code is relaxed, and the casual neighbourhood setting means there is no need to plan outfits around a dress policy. The venue is accessible from Phahon Yothin Road by taxi or BTS, with Ari or Saphan Khwai stations being the closest Skytrain options.

Visitor Reviews
I've been here a couple of times. I go on the tribute nights. It's always jammed packed. It's the best time when the bands play a hit song from the past. The audience blasts off and the whole building shakes( not literally). I love it but........they have a rotation for the hit songs. 1 hit song and then around 4 songs that I've and the majority of the audience have never heard of or at least nobodies excited about them. I always end up leaving because I'm bored. 1 hit song followed by a maximum 2 less popular songs might make things a lot better. Parking is available on the street. The staff is friendly
The service wasn't up to the standards of the normal Thai welcome that we have received over the last week we have been here. I wanted a certain cocktail but was told that it wasn't available due to lack of ingredients 😕. On a Saturday night every drink on the menu should be available. When we went up to order our second drink, it felt we had disturbed the barman from doing nothing. The live band is what made us stay longer. They were amazing and I would certainly go back to see them again. Maybe the barman will be a little more friendlier next time!!!
Very passionate and cool band on the night I visited. The speakers are insanely loud however and speaker quality leaves something to be desired. The vibe could be improved a bit more as it's a bit dark inside, and maybe some more events to fill the place up with more people. Also would be nice if could get bottled soda water rather than in a glass. Would recommend
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
