The draw here is the river. The hotel sits on Mae Nam Kwai Road with the Kwai right there, and the terrace dining looks straight out over it, which is the kind of thing that makes a two-night stop feel longer than it is. Rooms are bright and modern rather than rustic, and there's an outdoor pool if you want to do nothing at all between sightseeing runs.

Position-wise you're close to the Bridge on the River Kwai and the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, but set back from the noisier end of the strip. That matters in Kanchanaburi, where some riverside places share a wall with a floating disco. My advice is to treat this as a base rather than a destination in itself: out early for the museums and the bridge, back for a swim in the afternoon heat, dinner on the terrace.

Best months are November to February, when it's cool enough to actually walk around. Weekends and Thai public holidays bring coach parties to the main sites, so go first thing.
