Mueang Kanchanaburi Fresh Market
This neighbourhood fresh market in central Kanchanaburi serves as a working local marketplace rather than a tourist destination, making it one of the more authentic experiences available in town. Visitors browse stalls stocked with fresh vegetables, fruit, seafood, meat, and prepared foods, alongside more adventurous local specialities such as frog, intestines, and other ingredients rarely seen outside Thailand. The atmosphere is lively and unpretentious, reflecting everyday life in Kanchanaburi rather than anything staged for visitors. Stalls vary in number depending on the time of visit, and some travellers have found fewer vendors open inside the covered market itself, with additional temporary stalls spilling onto the surrounding streets. Either way, the variety on offer is considerable, and prices are competitive. For travellers staying in self-catering accommodation, it is a practical source of fresh ingredients, while others come simply to observe and sample. Good to know: Despite the listed opening hours of 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, multiple visitors strongly recommend arriving in the morning, around 7:00 AM, for the best selection and freshest produce. Arriving later in the day risks finding stalls already closed or picked over. Bring cash, as card payments are not accepted at vendor stalls, and wear comfortable shoes for navigating what can be a crowded and uneven market floor.

Visitor Reviews
Great market, full of fresh vegetable and fruit. The prices are also good. The only thing is, you have to come in the morning, if you come later you can be disappointed as I was the first time.
Go in the morning! 07:00 is best, 07:30 okay too. Friendly folks, amazing choices of foods. Everything is close in Kanchanaburi
An average market with many stalls but some how not many were opened when I was there. Instead, the road are packed with temporarily stall and sell almost just as many variety as the market itself.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
