Keeree Tara
Keeree Tara occupies a prime spot on the banks of the River Kwai, just 100 metres from the famous bridge that draws visitors to Kanchanaburi from around the world. The combination of an open-air riverside setting and a ringside view of one of Thailand's most historically significant landmarks makes this a distinctive dining destination in its own right, beyond simply the food on the table. The menu focuses on classic Thai preparations, with soups and traditional dishes drawing particular praise from regular visitors. Flavours tend toward the milder end of the spectrum, which suits those less accustomed to intensely spiced food. The atmosphere is consistently described as lovely and relaxed, with friendly, attentive staff contributing to a comfortable dining experience. The restaurant sits directly on the riverbank, and the views of the bridge from the tables are a genuine highlight. Open every day from 10:00 to 22:00, Keeree Tara covers both lunch and dinner sittings, making it a flexible option whether visitors are arriving after a morning at the nearby war memorial sites or winding down in the evening. It sits in the mid-range price bracket, reasonable for the setting and service level. Checking the Facebook page before visiting is advisable for any updates on reservations or seasonal events, as the riverside tables are understandably popular, particularly at sunset.

Visitor Reviews
This restaurant is one of the first restaurants we visited in Kanchanaburi many years ago. They continue to maintain their food and service quality well. In addition, their unmatched view of the River Kwai Bridge and live band music is available.
Absolutely fabulous food in an amazing setting on the water, just 100 metres from the famous Bridge Over The River Kwai. The effort that goes into the food is stunning! Be sure to have a meal here. The staff & surroundings are really excellent
Every menu that I ordered was very good taste. Except the fried chicken, which was just normal fried chicken, and the name on the menu should not be like this. Everything else 👨🍳😘 love the soup, it got the spice and sourness perfectly. The Lon Hed Kon is also very nice. This two are my top but other also good. The food took a long time in the kitchen, but the view of the River Kwai Yai and the River Kwai Bridge made time go by faster. The staff was nice. The price is a bit expensive, but for the taste, it is totally worth it. You can only book the table before 6 p.m.; after 6:00 p.m., it will be walk-in only.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
