Sylvis Hostel Chiangmai
Compare prices
Sylvis Hostel sits on Chaiyapoom Soi 1, tucked within the historic Old City area of Chiang Mai, making it a convenient base for exploring temples, night markets, and the city's many cafes on foot. The hostel is consistently praised by guests for its immaculate rooms and communal spaces, and owner Bo receives frequent mentions for creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere without pushing guests into forced social activities. A cocktail bar and terrace add to the appeal, giving travellers a relaxed spot to unwind at the end of the day. Accommodation includes both dormitory and private room options. While the social atmosphere is a clear draw, prospective guests should be aware that some visitors have found the mattresses on the firm side, which is worth considering for those with back concerns or who are sensitive to sleeping surfaces. On the positive side, noise is managed well, with music stopping at a reasonable hour each night. Sylvis operates around the clock, so late arrivals and early departures are straightforward to manage. For travellers prioritising cleanliness, a friendly community feel, and a central Chiang Mai location, this hostel is a practical and well-regarded choice. Booking in advance is advisable, particularly during peak season between November and February when Chiang Mai sees its highest visitor numbers.

Visitor Reviews
Would 100% recommend Sylvis Hostel, not only is it one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed in but it has a great atmosphere and good location in Chiang Mai. The staff are all lovely and the owner Bo made our trip! (we came back 3 times in one trip we loved it)
The best hostel i’ve stayed at in chiang mai! I stayed in multiple hostels around chiang mai and found Sylvis to be my favourite. The toilets and rooms are immaculate! The owner Bo is so lovely and welcoming. Would happily go back and stay again.
Sylvis is the best hostel in Chiang Mai and probably the best in Thailand. Ran by great people, super clean, good location and a good social life while not forcing you into organised fun every night like other hostels.
