THE HOUSE by Ginger
Housed in a generous compound on Mun Mueang Road within Chiang Mai's historic Si Phum district, this Michelin Guide-recognised Thai restaurant has earned a steady reputation for its thoughtful take on Thai cuisine. The setting blends contemporary design with a relaxed, characterful atmosphere — spacious enough to feel unhurried, and decorated with enough care that the interiors draw comment on their own terms. The menu follows a farm-to-table philosophy, with Thai cooking at its core and some contemporary additions alongside. Chicken satay with peanut sauce and crispy pork are among the dishes that consistently draw praise from visitors, and the appetiser platter is a popular way to work through a range of flavours. As with most menus of this scope, individual dishes land differently for different diners — some find certain preparations fall slightly short — but the overall food quality holds up well across visits. The restaurant opens daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM at mid-range prices, making it a workable option across most budgets. Its location within the old city places it close to Chiang Mai's central temples and main attractions. The venue fills up, particularly during peak tourist periods, so making a same-day reservation via the website is a sensible step to avoid waiting for a table on arrival.

Visitor Reviews
Make a reservation so you don’t have to wait for seating, made same day no problem. For a starter we ordered chicken satay skewers and the peanut sauce was delicious (ate them so fast we had no time for pictures). We ordered the slow braised beef and Stir fried crispy pork belly with Thai basil and both were very good. Although it was pricier, they were both one of the better meals we had during our stay in Chiang Mai. For dessert we shared Thai tea infused tiramisu and the portion was generous. Overall the atmosphere was nice and service was great. Definitely recommend eating here one of your days in Chiang Mai.
We came here without knowing that it was a Michelin star restaurant. But it was a great surprise. It had a very good atmosphere with excellent decor. The food is great. We had the le crispy pork with Thai basil and the khao soi with braised beef. Both very good. The appetizer mix is also very good for the price. The waiters are very efficient and friendly.
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Was quite full so reservations are recommended. The appetiser platter is a great way to start. Did not enjoy the beef carpaccio as much since it lacked acid and brightness but the slow braised beef in lemongrass sauce was so so good!! Carrot cake and tiramisu also good.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
