Garden Yard Inn Chiangmai 清迈院子院子客栈

4.5(104 reviews)

Nestled on a quiet soi off Rachadamnoen Road in the heart of Chiang Mai's old town, Garden Yard Inn is a boutique guesthouse that blends traditional Thai character with industrial-chic design touches, including exposed pipes and tasteful courtyard spaces. Its location within the walled city puts guests within walking distance of major attractions, temples, and the Sunday Walking Street, while the property itself remains a calm and well-maintained retreat from the bustle outside.

Guests consistently highlight the tranquil atmosphere, attentive owners, and the appeal of the garden courtyard as standout features. Rooms are air-conditioned and the overall aesthetic leans decorative and considered rather than generic. The inn also offers practical amenities such as laundry service, and the hands-on hospitality from staff adds a personal touch that larger hotels rarely provide. Families, solo travellers, and couples have all noted feeling comfortable and well looked after during their stays.

This stay was absolutely lovely! I originally booked for two nights because of a few disappointing hotel and Airbnb experiences before, but I ended up staying a total of five nights and I honestly wish I could’ve stayed two more! Unfortunately, they were fully booked, and I completely understand why. The room was spacious, spotless, and had a large, comfortable bed. The bathroom was also big and clean. The only minor issue was a few mosquitoes in the bathroom, likely coming through the ventilation area, but once I mentioned it, the staff immediately provided spray and took care of it. The pool was beautiful and relaxing, and the property is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood while still being in an excellent location plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance. The owner and staff were all so kind, helpful, and welcoming. This was easily my favorite stay out of the four places I tried in Chiang Mai.

This place is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and so well taken care of. This has to be my favorite place I have ever stayed at. It is at a great location, it is so well maintained, they have laundry service and are so kind. I really recommend to everyone coming to Chiang Mai.

We stayed here for 4 nights and for us it was a bit of a mixed bag. The hotel and our room was quite pretty - the decor is a mixture of traditional and industrial with exposed pipes etc. The air conditioning works, however, it takes a while to cool the room and we had it at the lowest temperature possible (16 degrees) constantly, yet it never felt truly cool. Unfortunately the bathroom never really cooled down - it was always humid, and there was always a sewer type smell coming from it, so we tried to keep it closed as often as possible. The bath is huge, which is great, but you would need to spend about an hour to fill it up to have bath. For anyone uncomfortable with creepy crawlies, this was the first time in almost 1 month of travelling south east Asia that we had house geckos crawling around our room. They are harmless, but if you can't handle the idea of them crawling around, it might be off-putting - just wanted to let anyone know. The staff were nice - they respected the Do Not Disturb signs, however always asked if we wanted our room cleaned and always left 2 bottles of water outside our door which was a nice touch. The location is also quite good - there are some restaurants and cafés on the street, and at either end of the small street there are bars, more restaurants, 7-11 etc.
