Why go, and how to do it well

This is the hike to do in Krabi if you've had enough of boats. The trail climbs through thick tropical forest, then breaks out onto viewpoints looking over the limestone karsts and the coast beyond. No technical climbing, no ropes, no guide required. Just a steady uphill slog that will have you sweating within ten minutes, and a few spots along the way where you'll want to stop and take photos.

It's quieter than most things with a name in this part of Krabi, which is half the appeal. Reasonable fitness gets you up it. Small children and anyone who hates steep ground probably won't enjoy the middle section. The mix of jungle, rock and open panorama keeps it from getting monotonous, which is more than I can say for a lot of trails.
