Checkpoint Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park
This checkpoint marks the entry point to Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and serves as the start of a popular hiking trail that rewards visitors with sweeping panoramic views from the summit. The trail stretches approximately 3.7 kilometres and is considered intermediate in difficulty, making it accessible to reasonably fit hikers without requiring specialist experience. The route takes most visitors between 90 minutes and two hours to complete, passing through natural forest before opening up to the elevated viewpoints that draw hikers to this area. The atmosphere at the checkpoint is straightforward and organised. Upon entry, visitors register their name, contact number, and entry time, and are required to log their departure time on the way out. There is a 200 baht entrance fee. Parking is available for motorbikes at the entrance and for cars at a lower control point, though car parking is limited. Notably, there are no food or drink vendors along the trail, so arriving prepared is essential. Good to know: Start as early as possible to avoid peak crowds and benefit from cooler temperatures along the trail. Bring at least 1.5 litres of water, a towel, and appropriate footwear with grip, as the trail can become slippery after rain. If travelling without a vehicle, a Grab ride or bicycle are practical options given the limited car parking. Reef-safe sunscreen is advisable for the exposed sections near the summit.

Visitor Reviews
Great views at the top. There was a 200baht entrance fee and you had to put your name, number and entry time. When finish your hike, you need to write the leave time. Trail was intermediate and most times was not a smooth path - quite rocky, but the ruggedness makes it quite enjoying in my opinion. I would suggest going in the morning to avoid the midday/afternoon heat. Average of 4hrs hiking time in total
Start of a great hike. Not to easy but sure good to be done. Make sure you go early before other tourists and some cooler weather. Its just a great hike and in 2hours maybe 1,5 you are at the top with a great view. You can see some wildlife, spiders, ants, birds.. The way back you need 1 hour maybe 1,5 hour. Have a nice hike!
Nice trail. Parking available at the entrance for motorbikes, and for cars at the first control. The trail is 3.7km and I would say medium difficulty. Watch out if it’s been rainy the days before, the path will be very slippery. Awesome views from the top, a must do if visiting the area

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
