Why go, and how to do it well
Tubkaek is the beach I'd point you to if you want Krabi quiet. It's a long, gently curving stretch of sand about 16 km northwest of Ao Nang, 25 minutes or so by car, with shallow, calm water and a view straight out to the limestone islands of Phang Nga Bay. A handful of upscale resorts sit behind it, set well apart, and there's no town, no bar strip and no longtail queue, which is the whole point.
Days here are swimming, walking the sand and watching the sun go down behind the islands. The water is shallow a long way out, so it suits children, and the beach is wide enough that it never feels crowded even when the resorts are full. For food beyond the hotels you'll be heading back toward Klong Muang or Ao Nang, so it works best as a base for a slow few days rather than a stop on a busy itinerary.

Tips for Visiting Beaches
Go Early for Empty Sand
Even the busiest beaches are nearly deserted before 9 AM. Sunrise walks on Kata, Chaweng, or Railay are magical — and you'll beat the heat for a morning swim.
Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen
Many Thai marine parks ban chemical sunscreens that damage coral. Bring reef-safe (mineral/zinc-based) sunscreen from home — it's harder to find and pricier in Thailand.
Explore Beyond the Main Strip
Every popular beach area has quieter alternatives nearby. Rent a scooter and ride 10 minutes from Patong to find Freedom Beach, or head to Phuket's northeast coast for nearly empty shores.
