Tup Kaek Sunset Beach Resort

4.4(1,320 reviews)

Sitting directly on Tup Kaek Beach in Nong Thale, Mueang Krabi, this beachfront resort earns its name from the unobstructed westward-facing shoreline that delivers reliable Andaman Sea sunsets each evening. The property serves as a practical base for day trips to nearby attractions including Railay Beach and the Phi Phi Islands, while the beach itself remains the primary draw — guests consistently report choosing the ocean over the on-site pool.

Accommodation runs to spacious, well-maintained beachfront bungalows and rooms, including pool-access options, with a beach restaurant serving food on-site. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. Staff are frequently praised for being welcoming and accommodating, and the gated entrance with permanent front desk staffing gives guests a noted sense of security. It presents itself honestly as a comfortable three-star property — the setting and location are the headline rather than luxury facilities, and visitors who arrive with that expectation in mind tend to leave satisfied.

Loved my experience here. Staff is excellent and very accommodating. Felt safe taking Grabs as the entrance is closed off and there is always on site staff in the front to assist. Front desk reception was very kind. I stayed for almost a week with my parents for a wedding and meant to stay for 2 nights. Even though my father booked for 3 nights mistakenly, the front desk staff brought it to our attention after I had requested to book private transport a day early. They could have chosen to leave the reservation as is but my family and I appreciated the honesty and hospitality that they gave. Restaurant/cocktail bar staff were also very nice. Not to mention the free kayak/paddle boarding & amazing massages with a beautiful view. Our room was also very clean. The only feedback I would say is that the restaurant menu could be updated. Maybe having restaurant specials? Would love to stay here again!

This is a classic three-star beachfront hotel, and that is clearly noticeable — but in a fair and realistic way. We stayed in a room with direct pool access, which was very nice and convenient. You can tell that this is not a four-star resort, especially in terms of design and overall concept. In some areas, it is noticeable that parts of the building structure, such as wooden elements or walls, could benefit from renovation or fresh paint. However, this is not dramatic, and overall the hotel is in good condition, especially regarding cleanliness and maintenance, which makes it easy to recommend. The areas behind the buildings, near the room entrances, feel somewhat plain and utilitarian, with long concrete walls and little decoration. A more welcoming design in these sections would further improve the atmosphere. The hotel is located on what is, in our opinion, the most beautiful section of the entire beach. This part of the beach feels exclusive and is usually home to much more expensive resorts. This hotel offers an excellent price–performance ratio while still being situated on a prime stretch of the beach. The view across the sea toward the islands is truly spectacular and very characteristic of Thailand, with dramatic limestone formations rising out of the water — a scenery that feels straight out of a movie and gives the beach a very authentic Thai atmosphere. Sun loungers were always available, and it was easy to find shade under the trees, which made relaxing at the beach very comfortable. One thing to be aware of is that this beach is strongly affected by tides. During low tide, the water can recede 20–30 meters, which is simply part of the natural setting here. Breakfast, unfortunately, was nothing special. The selection, presentation, and taste were rather average. However, the view from the breakfast area over the sea is absolutely stunning and almost makes up for the otherwise modest breakfast experience. The biggest downside of the hotel remains the beach restaurant service, which was very disappointing. Guests are sometimes not greeted, menus are placed on the table without a word, and the overall attitude felt arrogant and unmotivated. It is therefore understandable that many guests chose to dine elsewhere in the evenings. This is especially unfortunate, as improving the service at the beach restaurant would be a huge opportunity to increase guest satisfaction and hotel revenue. Management should definitely pay closer attention to this area. The hotel is quite secluded, with little around it. Beach services and massages are rather expensive for Thai standards, and reaching more restaurants or local life requires a 10-minute taxi ride (around 200 THB). Overall, this hotel offers a very good balance between price, location, and beach quality. For guests who prioritize an exceptional beach and scenery, it is a solid choice — and with better service at the beach restaurant, the experience could be significantly improved

We had a room with the pool access but we didn't use it much as we swam in the sea much more. Beautiful sunsets, great location. Good food in the hotel beach restaurant (which is very uninspiring in terms of decor and the ambience), breakfast good but not very varied. Be aware you will be asked to leave 4000 baht as a deposit as you check it. In the room we found a long list of items you will be charged if anything was missing. We had a Thai massage, which was good but impersonal and missing the ambience: oils, music, smells. Overall, the location is great but think the hotel lost its spark.
