Why go, and how to do it well
Come for the drive as much as the destination. It's roughly an hour up from Chiang Mai through Mae Rim, forested hills the whole way, and the views start long before you arrive. Up top it's a highland farming community that has worked out exactly what people want: flower gardens, viewpoints, market stalls lining the path, cafés with the mountains laid out in front of them.
Here's the thing to understand before you go. There's no single ticket. Each garden, each photo setup, the hand in the sky, they all charge separately, around 50 baht a pop, and if you're the sort who wants to see everything the tally climbs fast. Some people find that annoying. I'd just pick two or three and let the rest go. The air is cooler than the city, the mist sits in the valleys early, and late afternoon light on the hills is worth the drive on its own.

Reviews from Google
Mon Jam is absolutely breathtaking! One of the most beautiful places to visit near Chiang Mai. The views are stunning from both sides, and every turn offers a new scenic perspective. The drive up to the top itself is an amazing experience — the road is beautiful and riding through the hills makes it even more special. There’s a small café at the top with a very unique and peaceful vibe. Sitting there with a cup of coffee while enjoying the panoramic mountain views is simply unforgettable. The weather, greenery, and calm atmosphere make it a perfect spot to relax, take photos, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended for nature lovers, bikers, and anyone visiting Chiang Mai. A must-visit place!
It’s really beautiful up here. You park in the carpark down below and then walk up. The walk is a very long steep hill. No entry cost per se but you pay to get into one garden and for the hand in the sky. So much to see and do you could spend hours there. Great stalls on the walk up and down as well.
Mon Jam is a beautiful place with great views and a nice atmosphere. The gardens and scenery are lovely, but it’s worth noting that every part of the farm requires an entrance fee, so the cost can add up quickly if you plan to visit multiple areas. The location is also quite far from the city, but the drive is scenic and you can stop at nearby spots along the way to enjoy the views and waterfalls too. Overall it’s still a nice destination, but be prepared for the extra charges and the travel time.
