Freedom Project Phuket Yoga & Sound Bath

4.9(86 reviews)

Nestled in Soi Plakjae in the Karon district of Phuket, Freedom Project offers yoga classes and sound bath sessions in an open-air setting that looks out toward the iconic Big Buddha. The combination of natural surroundings, elevated views, and a carefully cultivated atmosphere makes it a distinctive wellness destination on the island, drawing both first-time visitors and those returning for regular practice. Classes are led by a resident instructor known for a teaching style that is gentle, clear, and welcoming to practitioners of all levels. Visitors consistently describe leaving sessions feeling calm and grounded. The sound bath offering is particularly noted as a meaningful experience for those new to the practice, as well as for active travellers seeking recovery and stillness. The space itself carries a meditative quality that visitors describe as genuinely restorative rather than simply decorative. As opening hours are not publicly listed, reaching out in advance to confirm class schedules and availability is strongly recommended, especially during peak tourist season when spots may fill quickly. The studio suits travellers looking for a quieter, more intentional counterpoint to Phuket's busier attractions, and is equally appropriate for solo visitors, couples, or small groups seeking a shared wellness experience.

Stunning location and amazing yoga teacher! I’m sooo happy to have found Freedom Project as I love being surrounded by nature and this location is absolutely breathtaking… a little piece of paradise here in Phuket. I live and work in Phuket and I’ve done some yoga over the years but never consistently as I don’t really like being in a studio so this was perfect for me. Sana’s classes are superb, she’s an incredibly passionate and knowledgable teacher and explains everything slowly and clearly. I've had a painful hip for a few months but it's definitely so much better now I’m stretching. I feel like I’m slowly gaining strength, becoming more flexible and it's the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. I’ve been going since January and there’s beginners and advanced in every class so it’s great for everyone even if you’ve never done yoga before.. and the sound bath is another dimension taking you on a beautiful journey deep into your soul. I highly recommend Freedom Project. You are warmly welcomed by Sana and it's the perfect way to take a moment out of your day to become grounded, calm and re-energized whilst also meeting lovely people. Thank you Sana and see you again soon! x

I have attended three of her yoga classes and each time I left feeling so calm, grounded, and happy. Her teaching style is gentle, clear, and incredibly warm. From the very first moment you feel welcome and completely at ease. The sound bath was especially beautiful and truly something special. The sounds created such a deep sense of relaxation and made the whole experience even more powerful and holistic. And the location… it is absolutely stunning. The view is breathtaking and makes the practice feel even more magical. Doing yoga in such a special place is something I will definitely remember.

This was my first sound bath experience and I have to say this was the best experience, I highly recommend, I spend alot of time doing high intensity workouts each day and have a very busy always active lifestyle and to take this morning out and enjoy Sana yoga class and stretch felt so amazing for my body followed by the sound bath was incredible I felt so much peace and was able to switch off and found to relaxed it’s exactly what I needed that Sunday morning thank you sooo much Sana you were amazing x

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
