Naka Weekend Market

4.4(11,512 reviews)

Held every Saturday and Sunday evening on Thanon Wirat Hong Yok in Wichit, this popular outdoor market draws both locals and visitors looking for an authentic Phuket experience after dark. The market is well-organised and easy to navigate, with a spacious layout that makes browsing comfortable even when crowds gather. A large food court anchors the venue, offering a wide range of Thai street food — from noodles and satay to salmon dishes and desserts — alongside diverse options that appeal to varied tastes. Beyond food, the market features stalls selling clothing, batik sarongs, souvenirs, and branded merchandise, with prices that visitors consistently find more competitive than those at Patong or Phuket Old Town. Haggling is generally accepted at shopping stalls. Live performances add to the atmosphere, with free shows running throughout the evening that make the market worth lingering in beyond a quick browse. A practical note for planning: Naka Weekend Market operates only on Saturdays and Sundays, opening at 4:00 PM and closing at 10:00 PM. Arriving closer to opening time offers a more relaxed experience before peak crowds build up. Visitors should be aware that some stalls carry replica or counterfeit merchandise, so shopping with that in mind is advisable. The market's official website at phuketnakamarket.com may carry updates on events or seasonal schedules.

Visitor Reviews

It was filled with a fantastic food court at the end, the food is amazing and diverse. The hours aren’t bad either. You can also haggle the prices if you wanna buy something. Theres fake merchandise, Thailand tourist clothes, shoes, hats, jewelry and so much more. Theres also amazing food for dinner and dessert, drinks like smoothies, water, soda, and alcohol. For dinner there’s seafood chicken, beef (even wagyu) and more. Theres also a lotta different dessert like mochi, ice cream, fried potato and sweet potato balls (my favorite) and even more. The bathrooms cost 5 baht, but food and item prices are very diverse, most people working there can understand a good amount of English, they are very used to tourists and friendly. I’d love to come back here, love this place, it’s very cheap (ofc depending on what currency your country has). 10/10 P.S they sell a lotta weed and even weed brownies if anyone is up for that. Also I mostly took pictures of the food.

Naka Market is a very enjoyable and vibrant market in Phuket, especially if you want to experience the local atmosphere. The market is spacious, well organized, and easy to walk around, with a great variety of stalls. You’ll find everything from delicious street food and fresh drinks to clothes, souvenirs, accessories, and local products. The food section is excellent, with many options to try different Thai flavors at reasonable prices, all freshly prepared. The atmosphere is lively and fun, particularly in the evening, with music, friendly vendors, and a relaxed vibe. It’s a great place to walk around, eat, shop, and spend a few hours exploring. Overall, Naka Market is definitely worth visiting when you’re in Phuket. A great mix of food, shopping, and local culture…I would happily come back again.

This was a three-fer. First, if you like buying stuff cheap it is the place to be. Second, they had tons of good food. Lastly, they had a number of live free shows, none more impressive then a young group of musicians playing and singing 80's rock music. When shopping be careful to negotiate and not be cheated.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
