Thai Cooking School Phuket (Kata Thai Cooking Class)
Located on Patak Road in Phuket's Kata area, this cooking school offers hands-on classes where participants actively prepare traditional Thai dishes rather than simply observe. Instructor Jim has built a strong reputation for making classes both educational and entertaining, guiding students through the techniques and reasoning behind dishes such as Tom Yum, Thai Green Curry, Pad Thai, and mango sticky rice. At the end of each session, participants sit down to eat everything they have cooked, making it a rewarding full-circle experience. The school welcomes solo travellers, couples, and families alike, and the intimate class format encourages genuine cultural exchange alongside practical cooking skills. Classes cover not just the how but the why of Thai cooking, giving participants a deeper understanding of ingredients and methods that translates well to recreating dishes at home. The atmosphere is consistently described by visitors as warm, lively, and welcoming for all skill levels, including those who consider themselves eaters rather than cooks. Good to know: The school operates Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM, with shorter Sunday sessions running from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Booking in advance through the school's website is strongly recommended, as popular time slots tend to fill quickly during peak tourist seasons. Comfortable, casual clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for a kitchen environment are advisable.

An unforgettable experience – a must! I first signed up for Jim’s cooking class while looking for something fun for my son, who loves cooking. Personally, I’m more of an eater than a cook, but we decided to join as a whole family and give it a try. And wow - what an absolute blast! Jim, with his vibrant personality and infectious laugh, shared with us the secrets of Thai cuisine. The class turned into a colorful, fun, and hilarious adventure that we’ll always remember. Thank you, Jim, for such an incredible experience. It was professional, engaging, and so much fun. Highly recommended!
Add this cooking class to your To-Do list when you’re in Phuket. Jim & Sally run an amazing class where you learn not only the “how” but also the “why” of making the best Thai dishes you’ll want to replicate at home: Red Thai curry, Tom yum soup and Thai sticky rice pudding. The class is well paced, really engaging and hands on with fresh ingredients and so much knowledge imparted during the class most of which you wouldn’t even know to ask in a google search. Highly recommended!
Our family had the best afternoon learning to cook the most delicious Thai food. The spring rolls, Pad Thai, Red chicken Curry dish and mango sticky rice were absolutely delicious and Jim made the whole experience so entertaining and insightful. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves Thai food. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the portions were super generous.

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
