WOODY KITCHEN BY Phuket Cooking Course
Run by the well-regarded instructor Woody, this Karon-based cooking school offers one of the more personal and genuinely educational ways to engage with Thai cuisine in Phuket. Classes begin with a guided visit to a local market, where Woody walks participants through fresh ingredients, explains their uses, and answers questions before heading back to the kitchen to cook. The curriculum covers classic Thai dishes, with a focus on understanding the balance of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy flavours that define the cuisine rather than simply following a recipe. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with Woody's teaching style frequently described by visitors as knowledgeable, patient, and entertaining. Class sizes are kept intimate, allowing for hands-on participation throughout, and the garden setting of the kitchen adds to the experience. Participants leave having cooked and eaten multiple dishes, along with a practical understanding of techniques they can replicate at home. Good to know: The kitchen operates daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, offering flexibility for morning or afternoon sessions. Classes run for several hours, so allow ample time in the day's schedule. Comfortable clothing that can handle kitchen splashes is advisable. Booking in advance through the website is strongly recommended, particularly during Phuket's peak tourist season between November and April, when spots fill quickly.

Amazing cooking class!! Woody was super nice, funny, and helpful! Hands-on cooking experience. You really learn how thai cuisine works. The market tour was also great, and it’s cool that you get to choose your own ingredients. Would come back, 10/10!
Had a Thai cooking class today with Mr Wooddy. Fantastic class. Mr Wooddy is very knowledgeable and we made some fantastic food and had a great morning. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling in the Phuket area of Thailand
We participated in the morning cooking class. The experience was unforgettable. The atmosphere was fantastic! We had the opportunity to visit a local market and see, among other things, how coconuts are processed to obtain the ingredients necessary for our dishes. The cooking took place in a wonderful atmosphere, and Wooddy and his team made every effort to ensure everyone had a good time. The place itself is so clean, welcoming and tidy. Highly recommend it!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
