Golden Fish Seafood Restaurant
Sitting directly on Bangtao Beach in the quieter Choeng Thale district of Phuket, this casual seafood restaurant draws a loyal following through fresh ingredients, genuine Thai flavours, and a setting that places diners right alongside the water. The beach location means visitors can watch the sunset over the Andaman Sea while eating, something repeat visitors consistently highlight as a defining part of the experience. The menu centres on classic Thai seafood preparations, with standout dishes including grilled fish, seafood tom yum, King prawns, pineapple fried rice, stir-fried seafood with vegetables, Thai mussel curry, and chicken massaman. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, with sunbeds on the beach nearby and a pace that encourages lingering. Despite the scenic setting, pricing remains at the budget end of the scale, which is a notable combination for beachfront dining in Phuket. Some visitors return multiple times within a single holiday stay, pointing to consistency in both the food and the overall experience. Good to know: Specific opening hours are not publicly listed, so it is worth confirming times locally before making the trip, particularly if sunset dining is part of the plan. The restaurant sits away from central tourist zones, giving it a more neighbourhood feel, but it is accessible by taxi or scooter. Casual beachwear is appropriate given the setting, and arriving slightly before sunset is worth planning for if the views are part of the appeal.

Visitor Reviews
Golden Fish Restaurant is truly one of the highlights of our holidays at Bangtao Beach. We spent most of our days relaxing on the sunbeds right in front of the beach, and the experience was simply perfect. The service from the entire team was incredible, but there was one particular staff member who truly made our stay unforgettable. Mem (I’m not sure if it’s correctly named) worked incredibly hard, always looking after us with genuine care and attention. Drinks and food were served quickly, everything was checked regularly to make sure we were comfortable, and even the sand on our sunbeds was constantly cleaned. The dedication, energy, and kindness shown were exceptional and deserve special recognition. We absolutely love this place. We visited last year, came back again this year, and we are already dreaming of returning. Golden Fish is a real gem of Bangtao Beach, a place that makes you feel welcome, relaxed, and truly cared for. Without a doubt, it’s one of the memories from our holiday that we will always cherish.✨✨✨🫶🏻
During our stay in Phuket, we visited this place three times! The food was absolutely delicious — we especially enjoyed the seafood tom yum, pineapple fried rice, stir-fried seafood vegetables, and mango sticky rice. Sitting outdoors near the beach was wonderfully relaxing, while dining indoors during the rain was equally pleasant, with a cool and cozy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, even with our baby, making it very family-friendly. We also loved the cold local draught beer — perfect!
If you want to truly enjoy a beautiful sunset while savoring great food, this is the perfect place to visit. The restaurant is located right on the beach, offering stunning sea views and a relaxing atmosphere. The service is prompt and attentive, making the overall experience very pleasant. Prices are reasonable considering the generous portions and excellent quality of the food. I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience by the beach.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
