Cafecito
Tucked into Pai's laid-back traveller district, Cafecito stands out as the town's go-to Mexican restaurant, drawing consistent praise for food that genuinely delivers on flavour and value. The menu leans into Mexican classics done well — fish tacos and mushroom tostadas are among the standout dishes — while creative drinks like a matcha coconut milk have earned their own following among visitors. The space itself is part of the appeal. Beautifully decorated with a warm, relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant features a balcony where guests can catch the morning sun — a detail that makes it equally appealing for a leisurely breakfast as for lunch or dinner. Staff are frequently praised for being friendly and attentive, and the kitchen accommodates dietary preferences, with oat milk available for a modest surcharge. Portions are considered generous relative to the price, making it a solid option for travellers watching their budget without sacrificing quality. Good to know: Cafecito opens daily at 9am and closes at 9pm, giving visitors plenty of flexibility across the day. Those wanting to enjoy the balcony seating in the morning sun would do well to arrive early, as the restaurant's reputation means tables can fill quickly during peak meal times. No website is listed, so walk-ins appear to be the standard approach.

Visitor Reviews
We had an amazing dining experience and got our Mexican fix.😁 We were seated straight away, the staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered mushroom tostada which was my favorite, fish tacos which were super tasty, chicken tostada which must have been real good too but the hubs wouldn't let me have any, The hubs ordered another entree pictured with the egg on it and I can't remember what it is called but we are all of that too. We definitely recommend you try this cafe. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. The prices are attractive as well.
I honestly don’t understand why some places have great ratings but turn out to be disappointing, while this place has a 4.6 rating - because in my opinion, everything here is excellent! This is a Mexican restaurant with a fresh, fun and colorful interior. Everything is clean, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. There are different sauces available, so you can easily adjust the level of spiciness and seasoning to suit your taste. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We visited twice during our trip - we liked it that much 🙂
Very beautifully decorated space, tasty coffee. They have oatmilk for an extra 20 baht, fair prices and super friendly staff. We sat in the morning sun on the balcony and it was wonderful.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
