Community Saturday morning market

This is the kind of market you go to because you happen to be in Pai on a Saturday, not one you'd rearrange a trip around. It runs once a week, 09:30 to 15:00, and it's a community affair: fresh produce, local snacks, handmade bits and everyday household goods, the sort of stalls that serve people who actually live here rather than the walking-street crowd looking for souvenirs.

Go early. The selection is better before midday and Pai gets warm quickly, which turns a pleasant wander into a sweaty one. The whole thing is compact, so you can do a full loop, double back for the snack you walked past, and still have most of your day left. If you're after fisherman trousers and tie-dye, that's the night market's job, not this one. What you get here is a slower, less commercial version of Pai, and half the point is just watching how the town behaves on its own time.
