The tree house cafe
Tucked away in the Ao Nang area of Krabi, The Tree House Cafe offers something genuinely different from the region's typical beachside dining. Built among mature trees and set beside a river and lake, the space feels like stepping into a jungle clearing — guests are free to wander the grounds and choose their own spot, whether that means sitting lakeside, beneath the canopy, or closer to the water's edge. The exploratory nature of finding a seat is itself part of the experience. The food holds its own alongside the setting. Visitors report enjoying everything from breakfast dishes to fish and chips, with several noting that the quality exceeded expectations and that prices are very reasonable. Coffee and lighter bites work equally well here, making it a good option for a morning stop or a relaxed midday meal. The ambient sounds of running water and the surrounding greenery add to the atmosphere throughout the day. The café opens daily from 9am to 6pm, which makes it well suited for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, but rules it out for dinner. Given the open-air, natural environment, light and breathable clothing is a sensible choice. No website is currently listed, so checking current details through local maps or asking at accommodation is advisable before making a special trip.

Visitor Reviews
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ This restaurant makes me feel like dining in the jungle. You can choose your own seating, but you’ll need to walk around a bit to find your favorite spot — which is part of the fun. The place has lots of plants in different zones, each with its own vibe. My favorite area is next to the canal and waterfall — very peaceful and beautiful. Be careful when ordering because the portion sizes are big. One small warning (and a funny one 😅): the menu boards are huge but not very clean, so after ordering, I recommend washing your hands before eating. Dining here is very inspiring. You’ll get so many ideas for home decoration and plant setups. Also, if you see monkeys around, don’t feed them — or they might steal your food and interrupt your meal! Overall, a very unique and memorable dining experience.
The Tree House Cafe is a delightful spot that offers a unique and pleasant atmosphere. Nestled next to the river, it provides a picturesque setting where you can enjoy the soothing sounds of water while you dine. The cafe is designed with a variety of seating options, which cater to different preferences—whether you prefer cozy and a refreshing outdoor area surrounded by nature. Additionally, the cafe often features local dishes and a very welcoming vibe that makes it an ideal place to relax with friends or to enjoy a quiet moment alone. The location not only enhances the dining experience but also allows for scenic scenery. This combination of great food, beautiful surroundings, and plenty seating makes The Tree House Cafe a must-visit destination.
The Tree House Cafe is such a great spot! We had breakfast there and it was good, tasty, and a perfect way to start the day. What makes this place special is the space itself. From the road, you would never guess how big it actually is. Once you step inside, it feels like a hidden world — you can literally get lost in there. The atmosphere is amazing, like being in a forest in a real tree house. It has that cozy, relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Definitely worth a visit!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
