Krabi Elephant Shelter is about 10 minutes inland from Ao Nang beach, a second home for elephants that came out of forestry work and riding camps. Nobody rides them or puts them to work. It's accredited by the Asian Captive Elephant Standards (ACES), the Thai welfare scheme, and certified by Thailand's Department of Livestock Development.
You can walk in, though each session has a limited capacity, so the bigger programs are worth booking ahead. The short option is the Feed Me Up program, and the full program list and prices are on the shelter's booking page rather than its homepage. Accident insurance comes with every activity.
