Central Samui

4.4(10,624 reviews)

Central Samui is the island's most established shopping centre, set in Bo Put with a layout that combines air-conditioned interiors and open-air wings spanning a broad range of retail options. International and local brands sit alongside stalls where independent artists sell handmade goods, making it a practical stop for everything from fashion and souvenirs to everyday essentials. The food offering is a genuine draw in its own right. A vibrant food court serves traditional Thai dishes — including a popular night market section — alongside fresh juices, cafés, and sit-down restaurants. Families are particularly well served by a dedicated children's play area staffed with supervisors, a feature that stands out among shopping options on the island. The mix of enclosed and open sections keeps the space comfortable to move through, though the open-air areas can feel warm during the middle of the day. Good to know: Central Samui is open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, covering both afternoon browsing and evening dining. Parking is generally straightforward to find, and visiting on a weekday outside of the lunch and dinner rushes makes for a noticeably quieter experience. Lighter clothing is advisable if spending time in the open-air sections during peak heat hours.

Visitor Reviews

This is a great shopping mall with a huge number of shops, as well as many cafés and restaurants. There is also a very nice children’s room, even for very young kids, with staff supervising them, which is a big plus. The location is excellent, and it is especially nice that Chaweng night market is located nearby, making the area even more lively and convenient to visit. In addition, there are lots of entertainment options, so there is plenty to do besides shopping. If you are traveling with children, this mall is definitely worth visiting.

This mall is the biggest and most comfortable one in Koh Samui, and it pretty much has everything you need. The traditional Thai food I had at the night market here was really good. The watermelon juice, especially, was super fresh and sweet. The food stalls were clean and hygienic, too. I also bought some Thai souvenirs here. I highly recommend this place!

It’s a huge indoor/outdoor mall with various “wings” of stops. There’s also a handful of stalls with local artists selling goods. Great location on Koh Samui to get your shopping done! There’s also a baby market right outside the shopping mall, as well as the Chaweng Night Market across the street.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
