Salt Society – Beach Bar & Kitchen
Sitting directly on Chaweng Beach within a waterfront resort, Salt Society delivers a relaxed but elevated beach dining experience that goes beyond the typical bar-and-grill setup. The open-air space is sheltered enough to keep wind from being an issue while still offering unobstructed views of the water, and the interior earns consistent praise for its aesthetic on arrival. Seafood is a highlight, served fresh and well-presented, and the menu extends to pizzas, tacos, and casual Western-leaning dishes. The bar programme is a genuine draw — cocktails are well-regarded, and staff are notably accommodating when it comes to helping guests navigate the drinks menu. Service receives frequent mention in visitor feedback as a standout element, with staff described as attentive and genuinely hospitable. That said, some menu items have drawn mixed responses, so sticking to the seafood and cocktails appears to be the safer strategy based on visitor experience. The venue suits both daytime dining and evening drinks, with the latter offering cooler temperatures and a livelier bar atmosphere. A practical note: Salt Society sits in Chaweng, Koh Samui's busiest beach strip, so foot traffic is steady throughout the day. Beach-casual dress is entirely appropriate, and the sheltered setting makes it a comfortable choice even when the breeze picks up. Tuesday visits are worth noting — a taco special has drawn positive mentions from visitors.

Visitor Reviews
We had lunch at Salt Society and it was a great, elevated experience. It’s located within a waterfront resort, so the daytime views are beautiful. We were greeted with a complimentary basket of bread, and at the end of the meal we were even treated to a popsicle for dessert, which was a fun and thoughtful touch. The food was very fresh and well prepared. It is on the more expensive side, but worth it for the overall experience and setting. If you’re looking for a relaxed, upscale afternoon lunch with a few cocktails — especially with girlfriends while on vacation — this is a great choice and highly recommended.
The food was absolutely delicious — beautifully presented and full of flavor. But what truly stole our hearts was the Babe, gentleman from the service! He was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely made our evening special with his positive energy and helpful attitude. We honestly believe that experiences like this are created by people like him, and we sincerely suggest to the owners that he deserves a well-earned raise! Thank you for such a wonderful evening — we will definitely be back!
Went for drinks. Excellent cocktails ~£10 but staff were very friendly and helpful when picking drinks. Friend got wine, very generous to let him try different types until he found the one he liked. Was a Sunday and therefore quiet but that in itself gave it a relaxing and calming vibe.
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
