Chaweng Night Market
Running Thursday through Saturday from 4 PM to 10 PM, this Bo Put night market brings together local vendors and visitors for an evening of street food, shopping, and relaxed island socialising. The food selection is a particular draw, spanning Thai classics like Pad Thai, Tom Yam, and Som Tam alongside less expected finds such as gua bao, with several Halal-certified stalls also available for visitors with dietary requirements. Beyond food, the market spreads across a large area of clothing, accessories, handicrafts, and everyday goods. The atmosphere is informal and community-minded, with string lights, vendor chatter, and the smell of grilled food creating a tone that feels more like a neighbourhood gathering than a polished tourist attraction. Locals and travellers mix easily here, giving it a character that sets it apart from more commercial options on the island. Saturdays see an expanded lineup of stalls, making it the standout night of the week for those with flexibility in their schedule. A few practical details are worth keeping in mind before visiting. Cash is strongly recommended, as smaller vendors rarely accept cards. Parking requires attention — motorbikes left on the opposite side of the road have been subject to police fines with little advance warning, so confirming a designated parking area before leaving a vehicle is advisable. Arriving closer to opening time offers a calmer experience, though the market builds energy as the evening progresses.

Visitor Reviews
This is the best night market I’ve ever visited on Samui. It is incredibly large, with an amazing variety of food, clothing, and many other options. The food selection is especially impressive — there is something for every taste. The atmosphere is very lively and pleasant, making it a great place to spend the evening. Highly recommended!
The absolute highlight was the gua bao burger, packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. On Saturdays the market is even bigger with additional stalls, which makes it worth planning your visit then. We also tried the ribs, crêpes and a few other dishes, and everything was delicious. Great variety and really good food overall.
Night market food choices were really good...but be Careful where you park. Opposite the night market many motorbikes were locked by police 500thb fine each to unchain your bike. No signs no warnings. Very Easy money for police.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
