THE COCOON - SAMUI VIEWPOINT

4.7(10,565 reviews)$$$$

You're paying for the view here, and the view delivers. The hillside site above Bo Put looks out over jungle canopy to the coastline, and the suspended nets strung above the treetops are the thing everyone photographs. Reviewers talk about the small details as much as the panorama: the table lamps, the furniture, the lighting. That's usually a sign someone has thought the place through rather than just found a good hill.

The kitchen runs Thai and Western dishes plus breakfast, cocktails and bar snacks, all day from 9am to 11pm. Mid-range prices, and people consistently say portions and quality match what they're charged. Mornings are the quiet option and staff get repeated praise for handling families with small children. Evenings bring a live band, which shifts the mood towards date night. Between those two, sunset is the crush.

If you're coming for that sunset, get there early enough to actually claim a seat, and book in high season rather than turning up hopeful. The net lounges are the seats people want, so ask when you reserve.

We had the most incredible experience at The Cocoon Samui Viewpoint. The setting is absolutely breathtaking! The panoramic jungle and ocean views are truly something special. Sitting in the iconic net lounges overlooking the island felt like a dream and made for the most beautiful photos. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, making us feel so well taken care of throughout our visit. The food was just as impressive as the views fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Everything we ordered was delicious, and you can tell they put care into both the quality and the experience. This was easily one of our favorite spots in Koh Samui, and we will absolutely be recommending it to all of our friends and family. A must-visit if you’re on the island!!

We ate at the restaurant at The Cocoon Samui and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, with a calm island vibe that makes it a nice place to sit and take your time. The food was fresh, well prepared, and nicely presented, with good flavors and solid portions. Service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out in good timing. Prices felt fair for the quality and setting. A great spot for a relaxed meal in Koh Samui, definitely worth stopping by even if you’re not staying at the hotel.

We chose the sunset spot and the experience was just amazing! The vibes, the views and the romantic live music made this dinner stand out! Special thanks to James who was really helpful with everything. Highly recommended!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
