Bandu Market
Bandu Market is a lively, authentically local wet market on the outskirts of central Chiang Rai, drawing neighbourhood residents and curious travellers alike. Unlike tourist-oriented markets, this is firmly a place where locals shop, lending it a genuine and unhurried atmosphere that reflects everyday life in the region. Stalls are packed with fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, and spices, while cooked food vendors serve up cheap and flavourful dishes including fried chicken, coffee, and a wide variety of ready-to-eat Thai food. The market is compact but well-stocked, with fresh produce filling the back section and food stalls and general goods towards the front. Shoppers can expect local pricing throughout, and vendors are noted for being friendly and approachable. It operates across extended hours, making it flexible for different travel schedules, though the market is most active during morning hours when the fresh produce section is at its busiest and selection is at its peak. Good to know: This is a traditional wet market, so visitors should wear closed-toe shoes and be prepared for the sights, sounds, and smells typical of fresh meat and fish stalls. Cash is strongly recommended, as most vendors do not accept cards. Street parking is available nearby, and a dedicated lot can be found behind the market.

Local price, and people were mostly very friendly even they don't apeak english. A pharmacy also available near the entrance. Would be a good choice for finding some food for your need.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
