Bandu Market
Situated on the outskirts of central Chiang Rai, this is a firmly local wet market where neighbourhood residents do their everyday shopping rather than a destination tailored to tourists. That authenticity is a large part of its appeal, giving visitors a candid glimpse into daily life in the region that more polished markets rarely offer. Stalls are packed with fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, and spices, while cooked food vendors serve up fried chicken, coffee, and a wide range of ready-to-eat Thai dishes at local prices. The market is compact but well-stocked, with fresh produce concentrated toward the back and food stalls and general goods toward the front. Vendors are consistently noted for being friendly and approachable, and the atmosphere remains unhurried throughout the day. Unusually, the market operates around the clock on Sundays, with stalls active even into the evening hours. Good to know: The market is most active in the morning, when the fresh produce section is at its fullest and the selection is at its peak. As a traditional wet market, visitors should wear closed-toe shoes and come prepared for the sights, smells, and sounds typical of fresh meat and fish stalls. Cash is strongly recommended, as most vendors do not accept cards. Street parking is available nearby, and a dedicated lot can be found behind the market.

Visitor Reviews
Lots of stalls even at night. You can buy all kinds of food and cooking groceries here. Also a lot of veggies, fruits and meat seller at the backside. Local price, and people were mostly very friendly even they don't apeak english. A pharmacy also available near the entrance. Would be a good choice for finding some food for your need.
Great local wet market, parking on street or in lot behind market. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, eggs, spices, clothes and lots to explore. It’s not large but still great variety
there are so many food dishes here, they are delicious and cheap also. I bought fried chickens, a cup of coffee. Very Nice. Fruit is fresh.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
