River Bar - Ayutthaya
Situated along Thanon Uthong in the Pratuchai area, this casual riverside bar and restaurant offers a relaxed spot to eat, drink, and watch the light change over the Chao Phraya River. The outdoor riverside setting, with tables positioned directly by the water, draws both locals and travellers looking to decompress after a day at Ayutthaya's temples and ruins. The menu leans into traditional Thai food, which visitors consistently describe as delicious and reasonably priced. Cocktails are also a draw, with guests noting they are well-made and refreshing. The standout feature is the view — particularly in the late afternoon and early evening, when the river breeze picks up and the light falls across the water and the historic church visible on the opposite bank. The combination of good food, reliable service, and a scenic setting makes it a natural fit for both a casual lunch and a longer evening meal. Good to know: River Bar operates seven days a week from 11:00 to 23:00, making it easy to slot into any itinerary. Visitors report that the venue is cash only, so it is worth coming prepared. Arriving in the late afternoon is a good strategy for securing a riverside table before the evening crowd builds. For the latest updates, check their Facebook page before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
During our four night stay in Ayuthaya we ate here for dinner twice. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The location along the river had a very nice view of the church across the river (which is lit up at night). We called ahead to reserve a table on the deck next to the water. The restaurant seems to be a family run place, and everyone was helpful and professional. I would recommend this restaurant as a nice alternative to some of the larger, more impersonal restaurants in the area. River Bar had a nice vibe of a smaller, family run place that still has a great menu and very good food options.
Had a great time at River Bar Ayutthaya. The service was excellent — staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Cocktails were well-made, refreshing, and perfect for relaxing by the river. The atmosphere is calm and enjoyable, especially in the evening. Definitely a nice spot to unwind and enjoy good drinks with good service. Would come back again 🍸
I highly recommend this restaurant in Ayutthaya. The traditional Thai food is delicious, and the tables are set right by the river, offering a fantastic view and refreshing breeze. The service is also excellent. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
