Amporn Department Store
A well-established, old-school department store sitting in the heart of Ayutthaya, Amporn draws a loyal local following and serves as a practical one-stop shopping destination for visitors needing everyday supplies during their stay. The ground floor houses a sizeable supermarket stocking groceries and household goods, while upper floors carry clothing, shoes, toys, DIY tools, and personal care products. Familiar tenants such as Watsons and Dunkin Donuts add convenience alongside the mix of independent shops spread across the building. The atmosphere leans decidedly retro, evoking the feel of a traditional Thai provincial mall rather than a modern shopping centre. Reviewers frequently compare it to similarly styled malls found in Hat Yai and Krabi, giving it a distinctly regional character. The surrounding area adds to the appeal, with popular food chain eateries and a wet market nearby, making it easy to combine a shopping stop with a meal or fresh produce run. The store can feel congested during busy periods, and the surrounding streets are narrow, so first-time visitors should allow extra time for navigation. Amporn opens every day of the week from 08:30 to 20:00, making it a reliable option regardless of travel schedules. Those arriving mid-morning tend to find it less crowded before the afternoon and post-work rushes. Its central location on Thanon Naresuan makes it accessible by tuk-tuk, bicycle, or on foot from many of Ayutthaya's key historical sites, making it a sensible practical stop before or after a day of temple exploration.

Visitor Reviews
A large, retro shopping mall in Ayutthaya, with interiors similar to those of Hat Yai's Odean and Krabi's Vogue. Most people come to browse the supermarket on the ground floor. It's not small and quite organized. There are many interesting products, like the black garlic product in the pic.. 🎬2025.10.23
Not a big shopping center. It has generous discounts. Toilets are clean. Shoppers will feel congested. Need a good navigator to come here. The roads are narrow but has a good mix of shops along the way offering all kinds of items. Will be good experience to explore. Traffic is light. There are TUTU cabs plying about. Getting around should be easy. Feels like a sleeper town. But there are hordes of visitors to the ancient pagodas that towers in the skyline.
Love this small department store as it regularly has items on sale. The prices of stuff here are relatively cheaper too! It's a well-established retail destination that offers a diverse range of products. You can find clothing, accessories, household items, and electronics here . The store is known for its reasonable prices and frequent promotions, making it a popular choice for budget-conscious customers like me. The staff are generally helpful and courteous, which add up to the overall positive shopping experience. However, parking can be limited during peak hours. Overall, Amporn Department Store remains a reliable and convenient shopping venue in the city center.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
