De Riva Ayothaya

4.2(1,352 reviews)$$$$

Situated along the riverfront in Ayutthaya's Pratu Chai Sub-district, this riverside restaurant draws visitors exploring the ancient city with a combination of river seafood, open-air seating, and views across the water. Its location within the old town makes it a convenient stop for those spending a day among the temples and ruins nearby, and the setting — with boats passing on the river and a church visible on the opposite bank — adds a sense of place that goes beyond the food itself.

The kitchen leans into river-based specialities, with grilled river prawns and fried snakehead fish with herbal salad among the dishes that feature most in visitor feedback. Diners can choose between outdoor tables along the riverfront or an air-conditioned indoor room. Evenings bring draft beer and live music, which contribute to a more relaxed and atmospheric experience than lunchtime visits. Prawn pricing runs around 500 to 700 THB per piece depending on size, which is broadly comparable to similar riverside spots in the area, though some visitors find the value inconsistent and the portions variable.

Reviews from Google

I had lunch there, ordered grilled river prawn, fried snake head fish with herbal salad, etc. foods are good, outdoor table is decent, not hot, but air con indoor room also available. There were not many clients in lunch but seems more popular for dinner as i saw so many alcohol drink options. Good atmosphere of riverside with beautiful christian church at the other side of river shore, with live band at evening (Seeing musical band stage and equipment)

We came for dinner on our family trip and were not disappointed one bit. The food was tasty, and draft beer made it a perfect evening. The venue was by the river. Too bad we went there when it was already dark. The view must have been ultra lovely at daytime. And there were live bands playing English songs to remember and Thai country songs.

Honestly disappointing, food is just alright (not bad, not good) but the price is exorbitant. I would suggest going else where if you value good food. Aside from that the river view, live music and service is commendable.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Popular Activities Online

Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
