The Sunday Walking Street is busy, touristy, crowded, but still so much fun. It’s gigantic and could take a long time to see all of it, but even just visiting a small section is fun. Tons of great street food throughout. Bring cash, especially smaller bills if possible. By the way, don’t be afraid of street food in Thailand. I ate street food almost everyday for a month, and never had stomach issues. (Whereas I have had stomach issues from food in Mexico, Ecuador, etc…) Just use common sense, and enjoy. Also if you want to enjoy a big weekend night market with less crowds, check out the Saturday Walking Street, which is just south of the moat on Saturday nights.

Within old Chiang Mai city wall, this night market opens only on Sunday. We walked from east to west, covering about 1 km. Other than the Main Street, there are some side streets that led to temples, food bazaar, and small shops. We visited on 02 March 2025, along with many tourists. The mix of different languages chattering with stall holders was entertaining. Restaurants, street food stalls, and small shops selling accessories, paintings, wearing apparels lined up the street.

This market is packed and alive with energy! There’s so much creativity and funny stuff I’ve never seen before. Definitely a fun experience. Lots of food stalls also . Prices are reasonable, and I didn’t even haggle, but still got discounts when buying combos. If you’re in Chiang Mai, this is a must-do on a Sunday!
