Norn Talay Surin Beach Phuket
Perched directly above Surin Beach on Phuket's quieter northern coast, this resort hotel offers one of the more sought-after positions on the island — a short stone staircase separates guests from one of Phuket's cleaner, more spacious, and less crowded stretches of sand. A rooftop swimming pool with open sea views is among the standout features, and some rooms are positioned to take full advantage of the coastal outlook. Visitors can expect a relaxed, low-key atmosphere that suits those looking to step away from the more commercialised beach zones. Surin Beach itself is generally regarded as family-friendly and unhurried. Reviews are mixed when it comes to room quality and value, with some guests noting that the interiors feel dated relative to the price point — particularly during Phuket's peak season in January and February. That said, the location consistently draws praise, and guests who prioritise direct beach access over interior finishes tend to come away satisfied. For practical planning, Phuket's high season runs from November through February, bringing calmer seas and lower rainfall — the most reliable conditions for beach activities. Rates rise considerably during this period, so budget-conscious travellers may find better value in the shoulder months of October or March. The surrounding Choeng Thale area offers local dining options nearby, and the Laguna resort complex at Bang Tao Beach is a short drive away for those wanting additional amenities or entertainment. Advance booking is advisable during peak season given the property's beachfront position.

Visitor Reviews
An excellent hotel with rooftop swimmingpool overlooking the see and easy (just a Stone staircase) walk from Surin Beach which we found much spacious, clean and quiet them the Kamala beach from which we escape founding it too crowdy. Friendly Staff, clean and wellness equiped Roomster, water supplied Daily. Excellent sea view from room.
Beautiful location, beautiful rooms. The views are just stunning, an absolute dream to stay here! I wish I could shower looking at the sea everyday! The walk straight down onto the most beautiful beach, honestly the best place I have ever stayed!
During the first week of November, we visited Phuket and stayed at Norn Talay Surin Beach Phuket for one night. Although it is listed as a four-star hotel, it felt more like a three-star experience, and the price did not seem justified. Firstly, the breakfast selection was very limited. For a four-star establishment, I expected a wider variety, including more meat options, jams, and related menu items. The breakfast offered included only fried noodles, two types of fried eggs, one Thai-style chicken dish, fried cabbage, steamed rice, tomato soup, ham, and sausages. The salad bar had just three dressing options, and there were only two types of bread, both of which were exposed to flies. Additionally, the milk provided was sour. Secondly, the room cleanliness was below four-star standards and had an unpleasant odor. The pathway from the hotel to the beach had an uncovered drainage area with a strong, unpleasant smell. Thirdly, staff service was also not very welcoming, including those in the kitchen; however, the security guard at the parking area was notably helpful and polite. Overall, the only positive aspects of the hotel were the swimming pool and the beautiful view, which were both excellent (it didn’t mean the pool was excellent).
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
