It's a bed on the sand on Phi Phi, with the island's limestone and clear water on your doorstep. That suits a certain kind of traveler. If you want to fall out of a bar at 3am and crawl fifty meters home, the village strip is where you should be booking instead. If you'd rather swim before breakfast and take a longtail out for the day, a beachside resort makes a lot more sense.
Expect island-standard rooms rather than luxury, and plan your days around boats. Snorkeling trips, viewpoint walks and the village are all doable, but you'll be moving by water or on foot, because Phi Phi has no cars. Reception runs around the clock, which matters more than it sounds when late ferries and early tours are involved. Couples, solo travelers and small groups all fit fine.
