PAN KLED VILLA eco hill resort (แป้นเกล็ดวิลล่า)

4.5(589 reviews)

Tucked into the hills along Doikaokay Road in Rop Wiang, this eco-conscious resort offers villa-style bungalow accommodation as a quieter alternative to central Chiang Rai hotels. The property makes a strong first impression with a scenic entrance stairwell and lush, well-maintained grounds that screen the bungalows from one another, creating a sense of seclusion despite the relatively compact layout. On-site facilities include a coffee bar and restaurant, making it a self-contained retreat for guests who prefer to unwind rather than venture out for every meal. The bungalows are described by guests as cosy and comfortable, with small private terraces surrounded by greenery. The atmosphere leans relaxed and nature-focused, appealing to couples and travellers who want a scenic hillside setting without being far from Chiang Rai's main attractions, which are accessible by a short drive. Staff hospitality is frequently highlighted as a standout feature of the stay. Good to know: Bungalow placement varies across the property, and rooms situated closer to the road may experience traffic noise in the mornings, so it is worth requesting an accommodation unit away from the street when booking. The resort operates around the clock, offering flexibility for early arrivals or late departures. Book directly through the resort's Instagram account at pankledvilla for current rates and availability. October through February brings cooler, more comfortable weather to northern Thailand, making it the most pleasant season to enjoy the outdoor surroundings.

Visitor Reviews

We travelled around Thailand for 3 weeks and this was by far our favourite hotel. The staff were so friendly, the chalets are cute and comfortable and the environment is so beautiful. Really felt like we were staying in a private little jungle. There are mosquitoes but thats to be expected! Incredible food, and the restaurant area is such a beautiful indoor/outdoor structure. Great pool too and clean facilities. Theres even a cute cat who sleeps at reception ❤️ Our particular bathroom could have done with a little update to really make it feel more luxurious but it didn't detract from our experience overall and we were in one of the less expensive rooms. Location wise we really enjoyed it - it is a short drive out from town but cabs or bikes are easy enough to sort and there were some lovely walks directly from the hotel to a nearby reservoir and temple.

This resort was an absolute delight to stay at! Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights and we found it was the perfect location as you’re tucked away from the busyness but also a short drive to walking streets, night markets, bars etc the staff were very accommodating and friendly and even managed to do my laundry the morning before our flight! There were lots of food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a good price too! And the pool was big with lots of seating areas. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Very cosy entrance, nice coffee bar and delicious restaurant. The bungalows are beautiful but very small with an equally small terrace. They are very close to each other but screened off by lush plants. There are three price categories. The cheapest ones have only one window overlooking the roof of the next one, the medium ones are slightly better and the most expensive ones are significantly more spacious and airy! It is a cheap place to stay, so the price/quality ratio is excellent!!!! Lovely bed, by the way!!! We didn't have any rain during our stay, but it did feel humid. The swimming pool is fantastic. You can reach the city in no time on a scooter.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
