RIBS&CO
A well-regarded American barbecue restaurant on Phaholyothin Road, RIBS&CO has carved out a consistent reputation among both locals and travellers looking for a break from Thai menus. The kitchen specialises in ribs and grilled meats prepared in a Western style, with pizza and Caesar salad rounding out a menu that holds up across multiple visits. Portions are generous, cooking is fresh, and the mid-range pricing makes it an easy choice for a satisfying meal without overspending. The atmosphere is casual and unhurried, working equally well for a solo lunch stop or a group dinner after a day of sightseeing around Chiang Rai. Staff are frequently praised for being attentive and efficient, and the kitchen handles busy periods without noticeable drops in speed or quality. Travellers who have been eating their way through Thai food in Bangkok or elsewhere in the north tend to find it a genuinely welcome change of pace rather than a compromise. RIBS&CO is open every day of the week from 11:00 to 22:00, which removes any need to plan around rest days. Evenings can get busy, particularly on weekends, so arriving in the mid-afternoon or shortly after opening offers a quieter, more relaxed experience. There is no website listed, so walk-ins appear to be the standard approach.

Visitor Reviews
We’ve had great Thai food all over Bangkok, but being from the U.S., we were ready for something more familiar. Ribs & Co in Chiang Rai delivered in a big way with a western menu that offered ribs, fish & chips, pizza, burgers, pasta, steak, onion rings and shakes, all wonderfully prepared and presented. They did retain a Thai tradition with fresh fruit smoothies that rivaled any. We arrived when the place was full, but were seated immediately in the last table for two. Service was friendly and super efficient. We had pork ribs, a Caesar salad, Mango smoothies and garlic bread—all exceptional. I had a scoop of quality vanilla ice cream for desert, but was tempted by their New York cheescake. The atmosphere was great and just about like sitting somewhere in the U.S. except for the local staff, which was speaking very good English with their Chiang Rai accent. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and they take cash or credit cards.
We arrived in the evening when the restaurant was quite busy, yet we were seated immediately — a great start. We ordered a cheese pizza with no toppings, beef ribs, and a Caesar salad. Everything was delicious, but the highlight was definitely the beef ribs, which were cooked to perfection. Portion sizes were good and satisfying. The waiting time was reasonable, and the service was friendly, attentive, and professional. The beer was served in a chilled glass — a small detail that made a big difference — and the smoothies were excellent, especially the mixed berries. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality, service, and overall experience make it well worth the cost.
Honestly, we loved everything — the food, the vibe, the drinks, and the overall experience. The dishes were fresh, served quickly, and packed with amazing flavor. The quality was excellent, though the ribs portion felt a bit small for two people. The drinks were delicious — we tried a beer and a cocktail, both great choices. Prices were reasonable, and overall, we had a wonderful time here!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
