saikaew Resort

4.7(319 reviews)

Saikaew Resort is a bungalow-style property set around a large lake in the Mueang Chiang Rai district, offering a calm and nature-focused alternative to city-centre accommodation. Each bungalow comes with its own private terrace overlooking the water, where guests regularly spot fish, ducks, and aquatic birds. The resort is known for its welcoming owners, who are described by guests as friendly, accommodating, and genuinely hospitable — contributing to the relaxed, homely atmosphere that defines the experience here. Visitors can expect spacious, clean rooms with comfortable furnishings, along with on-site dining that receives consistently strong praise. The surrounding grounds are quiet and green, making it a particularly good fit for travellers who prioritise peace and natural surroundings over proximity to the city. The property operates around the clock, offering flexibility for guests arriving on varied schedules. Good to know: The resort sits slightly outside Chiang Rai's city centre, so guests relying on taxis or ride-hailing apps should save the full address, including the soi number, or use GPS navigation to ensure straightforward arrival. The cooler months between November and February are the most popular time to visit Chiang Rai, so booking ahead is advisable during this period. Those planning day trips to attractions such as Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple) or the Golden Triangle will find the resort a comfortable and restful base from which to explore the region.

Visitor Reviews

Great place for people who like nature and quiet. The attached image is the view from the rooms. Lots of fish, ducks and other aquatic birds at this time of year. Great service, good breakfast, very friendly and helpful host. 5 minutes from Chiang Rai centre. Booked one night and ended up extending 2 more nights. Rooms have fridges, air cons, good beds, choice of big or small pillow, desks for those who need to do online work, and a kettle for that needed morning coffee or tea. Oh and the rooms face the sunrise making them cozy warm in the cool winter mornings. Fantastic place. Fantastic host.

Saikaew Resort (เฮือนไทรแก้ว รีสอร์ท) is a peaceful bungalow stay with a very relaxing atmosphere. There’s a large lake right by the bungalows, and each bungalow has its own private terrace. It was really nice to sit on the terrace, look out over the water, and just unwind. In front of the bungalow area there’s a big parking lot, plus a washing machine you can use, which is very practical. There’s also a small restaurant on site, and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Great value and a lovely place to slow down and relax.

My stay at Saikaew Resort was absolutely amazing. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable with a cozy design that really made me feel at home. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, always smiling and ready to assist with anything I needed. The location is perfect peaceful, green, and close to the beach and local restaurants. If you’re looking for a relaxing place with genuine Thai vibes, excellent service, and a true vacation feel — this is the spot. Highly recommended ❤️

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
