Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand

4.7(2,844 reviews)

Space is what you're paying for here. Wide green lawns, old rain trees shading the central grass and the pool, riverside paths along the Kok that are worth walking slowly, and a pool area with the river in front of it. Guests keep using the same word about the place, and it's "calm". If your idea of a Chiang Rai trip is temples in the morning and doing nothing much after two o'clock, this suits.

The honest caveat is age. Rooms are large and comfortable, beds get praised, most come with a balcony, but more than one guest has noted that parts of the property feel tired and that the showers and bathrooms haven't been modernised. Some reviewers find the rooms modern and gorgeous, others find the architecture dated. Expect the older side of the mix and you won't be disappointed. Staff and the breakfast buffet get consistent, warm praise, and the riverside restaurant is a genuine reason to stay in for dinner.

Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand Our stay at Le Méridien Chiang Rai was truly exceptional. The hotel is absolutely stunning. The open spaces, wide green lawns, and beautifully maintained gardens create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere throughout the property. It feels like a high-quality resort where you can truly slow down and breathe. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and elegantly designed, offering a wonderful sense of calm and comfort. The service is outstanding — professional, attentive, and genuinely warm. Breakfast was excellent, with a rich and high-quality selection. We dined at both on-site restaurants — the Thai restaurant and the Italian restaurant — and both were fantastic. The food was delicious, and the overall dining experience was superb. I also had a massage at the spa, which was absolutely wonderful and added greatly to the overall experience. I would happily return to Chiang Rai just to stay at this hotel again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect combination of nature, tranquility, and top-level comfort.

The Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort is absolutely beautiful and located right along the river. You arrive to a grandeur sight and the nicest staff. The lobby, pool, and other common areas are spacious and well maintained. The rooms are modern, gorgeous, and very clean. I had a room with double rooms that were very comfortable. The bathroom is large and cleaned very well. I really enjoyed the view and the balcony that you can go out and sit. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning which was complimentary with my Marriott status. Definitely a great bonus. Delicious and plentiful restaurant options within the hotel. Will definitely be staying here again. Now for my standard comments. Location is very clean and well-kept. One thing to note is that it is right on the river so there are mosquitoes and little lizards everywhere. The lizards are on the walls and sometimes hover outside and around the guest room doors. I was a little nervous but thankfully none had gotten into my room. Still a fabulous resort and would come back!

Lovely friendly hotel. Excellent service and very gracious and helpful staff. Fine breakfast buffet. Fantastic pool and riverside restaurant and beautiful landscaped grounds alongside the river..... especially love the ancient rain trees in the central lawn and by the pool. The owners love nature. BUT.. parts of the hotel looking a bit tired. Architecturally feels dated. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a large balcony overlooking the pool. But rooms / showers have not been modernized for years and need better lighting and upgraded furniture. Overall a very pleasant stay 15 minutes by taxi from central Chiang Rai and very easy to arrange tours through the concierge.
