River Rai Residences
Nestled along the banks of the River Kok in Chiang Rai, River Rai Residences offers a tranquil escape from the bustle of the city. The property sits in a genuinely quiet setting — away from traffic and noise — bordered by large mature trees and adjacent to monastery grounds, giving it a serene, almost secluded character that is well-suited to couples, families, and anyone in need of rest and recuperation. Guests can expect clean, comfortable rooms just steps from the flowing river, with the option to take breakfast outdoors by the water or indoors depending on preference. The riverside setting lends itself to gentle activities such as fishing, and the natural surroundings make for charming sunsets in the evenings. Visitors consistently highlight the attentiveness of the staff, the quality of the food, and the calm atmosphere throughout the property. Its proximity to the river also makes it a practical base for exploring the wider Chiang Rai region. Good to know: River Rai Residences is located in Tambon Rim Kok, a short distance from central Chiang Rai, making it accessible while still feeling removed from the town centre. Given the outdoor riverside setting, lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended, along with insect repellent for evening hours. Prospective guests are advised to reach out via the property's Facebook page to confirm availability and current pricing before booking.

Visitor Reviews
The River Rai properties were in a quiet location right next to the River Kok. We were the first post-Covid visitors and the owners were very eager to please us, with very attentive service and a few complimentary items laid on. The rooms were beautiful and we had a lovely view of the river. There is a small plunge pool which was very welcome during our stay - we made good use of it. We also thought the shower was the best one we had on our entire trip through Thailand this summer (and we stayed at 11 different places). The roadworks outside were quite messy - hopefully these will be completed soon so that guests have an easier time getting to the property. The owners should consider including the price of breakfast in the room charge. We decided against taking breakfast due to cost - it would have cost 1000 Baht per day for my family which seemed quite expensive.
fantastic stay at RRR retreat! the very comfortable, clean room is a few steps to the flowing river with huge trees on the premises, right next to the monastery grounds! peaceful!! great base to explore chiang rai! will be back for longer!!
Location is by a really quiet river. No cars, tuktuks, and once every morning small boat passing by. You may choose to have your breakfast outdoors by the river breeze or indoors. Fishing by the river is fun anytime of the day. Should you fish at night... you can cook it instantly and with a bottle(s) of beer with friends... you'll never regret spending holiday at this place. Owner is super friendly... as well as, the care takers. They are all friendly and helpful. Great for family and big group of friends.
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
