Visitor Reviews

Krystal and I don’t do many “pre-planned” tours when we vacation, but this one just made sense in Chiang Rai. Mr. Nut was our driver and he is also the owner of this company. Kiki identified herself as our tour guide. There were only four “attractions”we really wanted to see during our 4 days in Chiang Rai besides the lantern festival. This tour covered all of them! The tour was with 7 other people, our tour guide and the driver/owner in a luxury 9 passenger van with extended headroom. Well air conditioned, all the cold iced water we wanted, and they even stopped at places we wanted to take photos at that weren’t on the schedule! None of us felt rushed, we were all well informed by Kiki before and during the stops. This was a marvelous experience, and some of us, I’m sure will be friends for a long time! Highly recommend, don’t know how they can afford to do this at this price, but… Hotel pick-up, transportation to 7 stops, included a huge all-you-can-eat buffet lunch, 10 hour tour- 1200 TB ($37/pp)! Do this, and ramble from the staged sites, especially around the Golden Triangle, you will thank me later.

We went on Black Dragon tours #1 which included Program: Wonderful Temples & 7 Major Sites - White Temple - Blue Temple - Black House - Longneck Karen Village - Tea Plantation - The Golden Triangle - House of Opium Our Guilde was Mai and our driver was Noom and both were very helpful. We were asked what our favorite stop was, but we enjoyed them all and couldn't pick one. Our tour price did not include the entrance price to any of the places that charged a fee (most were minimal), so you had the option to not go into those places if you chose. We already visited a Long Neck village, so we opted not to visit this one and we thought it was a little pricey 300 baht per person. We had someone in our group trip during our lunch and got hurt and both our guide and driver did a great job in assisting her. I think our only recommendation was that people in the back of the van had a hard time hearing Mai talk while the van was going. Maybe they could get a speaker for in the van.

My wife and I went on a private tour to the Golden Triangle, Karen Long Neck Village, Choui Fong, Wat Tham Phra, and the House of Opium museum with Bank. Bank is an absolute gem of a guide and the best guide we have ever had! His knowledge is very impressive and his English speaking is impeccable! We highly recommend Bank as a tour guide. He went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had a wonderful experience! He is a valuable asset to Black Dragon Tours 🐉

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
