Favola at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort
Nestled within Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort along the banks of the Kok River, Favola is an Italian restaurant that manages to feel classy without being overly formal — a combination that repeat visitors consistently appreciate. The riverside setting provides a calm, scenic backdrop, and the interior has undergone renovations that give it a fresh, polished look while retaining a warm, inviting atmosphere suited to everything from casual dinners with friends to romantic evenings out. The kitchen delivers Italian classics with evident care, with pastas drawing particular praise from diners. Evenings bring a livelier dimension, with live music adding to the ambience. A fireplace feature where children can roast marshmallows makes it an unexpectedly family-friendly option as well. Service is generally noted as friendly and attentive, and the kitchen is helmed by a Thai chef who brings quality and consistency to the Italian menu. Good to know: Favola is open daily from noon to 10 PM, making it a reliable choice for both lunch and dinner throughout the week. As the restaurant sits within a resort property, reservations are advisable during peak tourist seasons and on weekends. Guests staying elsewhere in Chiang Rai will find it a worthwhile detour, particularly for an evening meal with live music by the river.

Visitor Reviews
Favola at Le Meridien Chiang Rai is literally one of the coolest Italian restaurants I’ve been to. The vibe feels classy but not too formal — perfect for a chill dinner with friends or even a cute date night. The place sits right by the river, so when you come around sunset, it’s seriously Instagram-worthy. Warm lights, water reflections, and chill music — total main-character moment. The food? Chef’s kiss. The pizza crust is crispy outside but soft inside, and the pasta tastes super fresh — like they actually care about every bite. I tried the truffle pasta and margherita pizza, and both were next-level. They also have awesome mocktails (and wine if you’re with your parents). The desserts are fire — especially the tiramisu — light, creamy, not too sweet. Service here is 10/10. Everyone’s super polite and attentive, but not in that awkward formal way. The staff keep checking if everything’s okay and even help take photos if you ask nicely. You can tell housekeeping and the restaurant team put real effort into keeping the place spotless — everything from the table setup to the restrooms looks fresh and clean. If you’re in Chiang Rai and want somewhere that feels fancy but still relaxed, Favola is the move. It’s a mix of good food, great views, and that “this could be a reel” kind of aesthetic. Definitely worth dressing up a bit and going with your best people. 💫
What a lovely little restaurant within the resort. Staff is so friendly and the food is delicious. We had a busy tour the day before and explored all over the city. It was so nice to just relax at the resort and enjoy a nice dinner without venturing out. Started out with the bruschetta platter and chose three different kinds. We selected the mushroom, caprese, and brie cheese bruschetta. For my main dish, I had the linguine alle vongole which was a classic linguine with white wine and fresh clams. It was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend this spot, especially if you are staying at the resort. Now for my standard comments. Location is very clean and well kept. Indoor and outdoor seating is comfortable.
We ate here three times during our stay at the Le Meridien and enjoyed it a lot. After having been here 8 years ago, Favola is still very good. Loved the renovations and new look as well. The pastas were great and so were the burrata and tomatoe salad. Our favorite though was the pizza (better than in many European locations) and the fish. Service was friendly and fast. Highly recommended.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
