Noppharat Thara Beach
Noppharat Thara Beach sits within the Ao Nang area of Krabi and offers a noticeably more relaxed atmosphere than the nearby tourist-heavy strips. The shoreline is backed by a generous stretch of trees that provide natural shade throughout the day, making it a practical choice for visitors seeking shelter from intense midday heat. Limestone cliffs frame the backdrop, and the beach itself features smooth, soft sand with only occasional rocky patches along the shallower sections. Visitors should set realistic expectations about the water, particularly during low tide. Reviewers consistently note that the sea can recede significantly — sometimes several hundred metres — leaving shallow, murky conditions that are not well-suited to swimming. The beach is better appreciated as a place to walk, relax under the trees, and take in the scenery than as a swimming destination. On the positive side, the tidal flats attract small crabs and other coastal wildlife, giving the beach a natural, unhurried character. A parking area is available on site, and the proximity to Ao Nang means restaurants and accommodation are easy to reach. Good to know: The dry season (November to April) offers the calmest conditions overall, but even then the tidal timing significantly affects the experience. Checking tide times before visiting is strongly recommended for anyone hoping to swim. Keep belongings attended if entering the water, as reviewers have flagged the risk of unattended bags on the beach.

Visitor Reviews
Beautiful beach with plenty of trees on the back - there is a lot of places in a shadow so this beach seems to be a perfect one for really hot and sunny days. There is a decent parking lot and couple of small grocery stores and street food stands/restaurants. Noppharat Thara beach is a bit more distant from Ao Nang hotel area so it is much less crowded than other places!
Nice beach, full of lively creatures 🦀🦀🦀
A beautiful little spot past the end of the beach. Smooth sand with a few patches of small rocks but an easy walking beach. it seems that you shouldn't leave bags unattended on the beach if you go swimming. There are signs warning of danger of robbery. I felt perfectly safe walking the entire beach and the end is very beautiful, it wraps around the point to a park. Here you can walk among huge trees that have fallen due to the rising sea level. Great views and great exercise.

Tips for Visiting Beaches
Check Monsoon Windows
Andaman coast beaches (Phuket, Krabi) have rough seas May–October. Gulf beaches (Samui, Hua Hin) are roughest October–December. Plan your beach trip around these windows for calm water and safe swimming.
Go Early for Empty Sand
Even the busiest beaches are nearly deserted before 9 AM. Sunrise walks on Kata, Chaweng, or Railay are magical — and you'll beat the heat for a morning swim.
Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen
Many Thai marine parks ban chemical sunscreens that damage coral. Bring reef-safe (mineral/zinc-based) sunscreen from home — it's harder to find and pricier in Thailand.
