Stretching across the Andaman Sea off the coast of Krabi, Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park encompasses a breathtaking collection of islands, including the world-famous Phi Phi Islands, which gained international recognition as the filming location for the movie The Beach. The park is defined by its towering limestone karsts, turquoise waters, white sand beaches, and thriving coral reefs, making it one of Thailand's most celebrated protected marine areas. Visitors can expect a mix of serene beach scenery and active exploration. Snorkelling and diving around the coral reefs reveal rich marine life, while the rugged cliff faces and sea caves draw kayakers and boat tour groups alike. Hat Noppharat Thara itself offers a quieter, less commercialised stretch of shoreline compared to the busier Phi Phi islands, appealing to travellers seeking a more relaxed atmosphere. Day trips by boat from Ao Nang are the most common way to explore the outer islands within the park. The national park is open daily from 08:00 to 16:30, with the park office located in Ao Nang, Krabi. An entrance fee applies for foreign visitors. The dry season, running roughly from November to April, offers the calmest seas and clearest visibility for snorkelling and diving. During the low season, some boat services to the islands may be reduced or suspended due to rough conditions, so it is worth checking schedules in advance.
