Why go, and how to do it well
Think of this one as a departure point first and a beach second. Railay can only be reached by water, and this is one of the bays where you climb into a longtail and go. If that's your plan, it does the job without fuss.
The bay itself is quiet, a low-key coastal strip with a few beachfront hotels behind it and views out across the water. It's a world away from Ao Nang in feel, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on what you came for. I wouldn't build a Krabi trip around sunbathing here, but if you're staying nearby it's a calm base for boat trips out to the islands, and the lack of crowds is worth something. Bring sun cover, because there's not much to hide under while you wait.
