Why go, and how to do it well
This is the west coast antidote to the party beaches, and it's small enough that a dozen people counts as busy. The sea here tends to be calm and sheltered, so it's genuinely good for swimming rather than just paddling and looking at your phone. A handful of beachside spots handle food, drinks and shade, which means you can settle in for a whole day without a plan.
It's for doing very little. Snorkeling, paddleboarding if you've brought a board, or a book under a tree until the light goes gold. West-facing means sunset, and that's the hour most people show up for. If you want loungers in rows, music and a cocktail menu, this isn't it, and I'd say that's the point.
December through April is the dry season and the sea is at its calmest, which is when I'd go if swimming matters to you.
