Zen Beach

Zen Beach sits along the less-travelled western coast of Koh Phangan, offering a peaceful alternative to the island's busier shores. Its relatively sheltered position makes it a popular spot for swimming and relaxed sunbathing, and the laid-back atmosphere draws travellers who prefer a slower pace over crowded beach club scenes. The surroundings are natural and unhurried, giving the beach an authentic, away-from-it-all character that keeps visitors coming back. The beach is modest in size, which contributes to its intimate feel. A small number of beachside spots offer food, drinks, and shade, making it comfortable to spend a full day without needing to venture far. The water is generally calm, particularly during the dry season, and the setting lends itself well to snorkelling, paddleboarding, or simply reading under a tree. As a practical note, Zen Beach is not easily reached by public transport, so visitors are advised to hire a scooter or arrange a taxi in advance. The road leading to the beach can be steep and narrow, so those unfamiliar with riding on hilly terrain should plan accordingly. The dry season, running roughly from December through April, offers the most reliable weather and calmest sea conditions for swimming.
