Phuket Easy Thai Cooking
Tucked away in the quieter Rawai district of Phuket, this cooking school offers hands-on classes where participants learn to prepare authentic Thai dishes from scratch. Classes cover a solid range of Thai staples — green curry, pad thai, tom yum, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice feature regularly — with instruction that balances technique, ingredient knowledge, and genuine fun. The Rawai location keeps the experience grounded in a local neighbourhood atmosphere, well away from the busier tourist areas of the island. The classes are led by Tik, a host praised by visitors for her warmth, humour, and well-organised instruction. Many sessions begin with a trip to a local market to select fresh ingredients and learn about Thai spices before heading into the kitchen. The air-conditioned cooking space makes for a comfortable environment, and participants eat what they prepare, with some classes also allowing dishes to be taken home. The school caters to beginners and more experienced cooks alike, making it a practical choice for a wide range of travellers. Good to know: transport to the school can be arranged by the team — past visitors have had pick-ups organised directly by Tik, which is particularly useful given the location. Check the website at phuketeasythaicooking.com for current class schedules, available time slots, and booking details. Booking ahead is strongly recommended, as class sizes appear to be small and places fill quickly, especially on weekends and during peak season.

Visitor Reviews
Our class was on a Saturday evening and the pick-up procesw was very smooth. The ride was comfortable and the driver was very good. we felt really safe on the ride and was very relaxed. We met Chef Tik at the market and we were introduced to the ingredients. We enjoyed the market visit very much and managed to buy a bottle of coconut flower nectar. These are delicious!!! What we didnt buy, and later regretted was granulated coconut sugar. We thought we could find it at Big C when doing our last minute shopping but we had no such luck. Now we're back in our country and try to buy coconut sugar that suspiciously looks like palm sugar.. so 😰😰😰😰😰 Chef Tik was great at explaining the recipes to us, and i have found a new appreciation for these dishes. She also showed us a few variations to the dishes we made eg: Tom Yum Goong - how it was traditionally made, vs. how it was modified for the tourist pallete. Our classmates were awesome and we had a lot of laughs. And one person got distracted and added a whole bowl of coconut milk to their recipe. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It was a lot of food and we couldnt finish it, so one of Chef Tik's assistant helped to pack it for us to bring back to our hotel- AMAZING SUPPER ❤️ I definitely recommend this cooking class for everyone! It is also perfect for any MICE and Teambuilding (Meetings, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) itinerary. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a great cooking class! We started off at the local market, picking up ingredients and learning about spices. Our cooking class consisted of four dishes. It was a lot of chopping and a fun environment. The food was so much more than what I was hoping for. My favorite dish was a green curry! Thank you, Tick, for all the laughter and tips on how to make the best Thai food!
Great cooking class. We were father away than usual so Tik (the host) organised a grab for us. We cooked Green Curry, Pad Thai, Tom Yum (prawn), and mango Sticky rice. Went on a Sunday morning and there was only another 2 people on our trip. All staff were incredible kind, welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend Tik’s tour!
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
