Thara Park

This is the kind of place you use rather than plan a day around. It sits on Thanon Utarakit in Mueang Krabi, close enough to the middle of town that you'll pass it walking between your guesthouse and dinner, and it's open every hour of the day and night. Come early or after the sun drops. Midday in Krabi is brutal and there's not much shade you can count on.

Treat it as a breather and a meeting point. It's a spot to sit, stretch your legs, watch the town go about its business and get your bearings before heading off to the karst scenery and boat trips that bring most people to this province. It's not an attraction that will fill an afternoon, and I wouldn't detour across town for it, but if you're staying in Krabi town rather than out at Ao Nang, you'll end up here more than once.
