Aonang Thai cookery
Set in the beachside village of Ao Nang, this well-regarded cooking school offers visitors a genuine, hands-on introduction to Thai cuisine. Classes are kept small, creating an intimate learning environment where participants receive attentive guidance throughout the session. Instructors walk students through the full process, from prepping and cutting ingredients to cooking finished dishes, covering around five traditional Thai recipes per class. The school also provides printed recipes to take home, extending the experience well beyond the kitchen. A typical afternoon class runs approximately three hours and includes time to eat the dishes prepared, making it a satisfying and social experience rather than a purely instructional one. Visitors consistently note the welcoming atmosphere, the quality of the food produced, and the added pleasure of cooking with a scenic view nearby. The Ao Nang location places it within easy reach of Krabi's main beach areas, making it straightforward to incorporate into a broader itinerary. Good to know: Classes appear to fill quickly, particularly during peak season, so advance booking is strongly recommended. Since opening hours and availability are not listed online, prospective visitors should contact the school directly or enquire through their accommodation to confirm current class times and to secure a spot.

Visitor Reviews
An amazing experience at Ao Nang Thai Cookery School. I had been really looking forward to these cooking classes, and they exceeded all my expectations. There were only four people in the class, which made the experience very personal. The food we cooked was absolutely perfect – very delicious and filling, and we even took some home with us 🙂 The chef was friendly and knowledgeable, gave a lot of attention to the dishes we were preparing, and answered all our questions. We gained so much useful experience in cooking Thai food. Thank you for the wonderful lessons and unforgettable experience. I highly recommend visiting this place to everyone 🥰
Did the afternoon class here and had a great time. The staff are really helpful and the course was not too long (about 3 hours including time to eat between cooking) which was one of the perks I was looking for. You get to choose 5 dishes on the afternoon course and I feel really equipped to away and make these at home. Try not to eat too much earlier in the day (unlike me) so you can enjoy your meals when you're there 😅
Such a friendly staff who made me feel welcome the whole time. The cooking class offers a full experience from prepping and cutting all the ingredients to cooking the dishes under the guidance of awesome staff. Totally recommend this for anyone who wants to learn to cook authentic Thai food.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
